It's a long way home...
I met Tom (a colleague of mine) at the train station yesterday after work. He’s a nice chap.
Tom: "Hello pretty, are you taking the train home?"
Me: "Hi Tom. Yeah, I have to take the train home everyday! What about yourself?"
Tom: "Every now and then but sometimes I do get a ride home."
Me: "I see."
Tom: "Where do you stay?"
Me: "Somewhere in Damansara. And you?"
Tom: "Near Bukit Bintang. It is a pain to wait for the train, isn’t it? It takes them forever to come."
Me: "Yes it is."
Tom: "How long does it take for you to travel from your house to the workplace?"
Me: "It will take me about 10 mins to drive to the train station from my house + one hour of train ride + another half an hour of bus ride to reach the workplace. And all these exclude the waiting time for the bus and train!"
Tom: "Oh my dear, you should GET a new job NOW! Young and vibrant lady like you shouldn’t spend so much time on traveling to work each day. You should enjoy life and have more fun instead!!!"
His words have stunned me. For a moment there, I don’t know what to say. I think it is because what he said has some truth in it.
Me being me, smart and quick-witted, I retorted, "Yes, you are right and don’t you start to miss me when you don’t see me at work tomorrow."
He looked at me and gave me a cheeky grin, "Let’s elope from 'the forest' together when the time is right, eh?!"
I replied with a knowing smile, "Sure thing!"
I can see the headlight of the slow coming train from where I am standing.
