What a girl wants...

I have a very good girlfriend whom I have known since primary school. We had lost contact a few times when we went our separate ways to continue our studies in overseas but then we ALWAYS managed to get in touch again, again and AGAIN. :)

Let's call her Sally. Sally is a high ranking officer in a corporate company. She comes from a wealthy family and she has a steady boyfriend.

But today, she told me via MSN that she met someone from a seminar, a successful and wealthy man in his mid thirties who is VERY interested in her.

She asked me for advice. I asked her what about her current beau.

"As you know, he is in direct sales. He is struggling to survive. Not to say no prospect, but I just dislike this kind of lifestyle."

She continued, "Anyway, he is a good man. But mom taught that if get married, make sure the quality of life is there. That's why I'm considering the new guy. He is financially stable and can provide a comfortable life."

I said to her, "Aim high is good, but dear, nothing is forever rosy and perfect in this world. Even if you are married to a PERFECT husband TODAY, but the plane CRASHED TOMORROW, every single dream will be shattered too!"

Sorry for being harsh darling, but I'm just being realistic and honest only. Reading too much 'Snow White' and 'Cinderella' in your childhood can really fuck up your mind.

I asked my mom the following after being banANALed by 'Snow White and The Seven Drawfs' when I was five:

"Mama, what is 'live happily ever after'?"

"It means live happily forever."

"Are you and papa 'living happily ever after' now?"

"The 'live happily ever after' in the book is for prince and princess only. Papa is not a prince, Mama is not a princess and we don't live in a castle."

"Then how come you didn't choose and marry a Prince Papa for me?"

"AIYAA... Why you got so many questions one??? Quick quick finish your rice laa!!!"

*Muahahahaha*

I guess I am already a cynic when I was five.

That's why I have decided that if I have my own kids one day, I will ban all those stupid cheebye lanjiao fairytales books like 'Snow White', 'Cinderella' & etc. in my house.

I will only let them read Shrek. *LOL!*

Because I don't want my kids to grow up thinking that every well dressed and well groomed Ah Pig, Ah Dog, Ah Cat, Ah Cow out there is a potential Prince Charming who is going to rescue and 'live happily ever after' with them!!!

Wake up already people, FAIRYTALES are for amoebas and they do NOT exist in the REAL world!!! Because in the real world, once the honeymoon period is over, your prince will turn out to be a TOAD only nia!!!
