The ghost, the sea-hum and the auntie

"The guard said he saw two ghosts in Block G last night. Apparently it's a lady with a child." I relayed the gossip to my colleague Ms Wee.

"Is it a mother and a child? How did they die? How come they were in the building? Which floor was that? What time was that when he saw the ghosts? How many people saw it?" She fired me back with a dozen of questions.

"Errr... Sorry laa, I don't know. I didn't ask him so many questions. When I heard the word ghost, my knees turned jelly already." I replied meekly.

You see ar, I don't like to probe. If people are willing to tell me their stories, my ears are theirs. But I won't pry. It doesn't matter how little or a lot of info they are willing to tell or share with me, I'll just listen.

I won't go and scoop or dig until the bottom of the pot for the pitiful crumbs and leftovers. Because I believe that if you think I should know about something, you would have told me without having me asking. And I also know for a fact that not everything has an answer for it.

I do hope that my friends and family will hold the same kind of sentiments and understanding when I tell them stuff. But unfortunately nosy people are everywhere and I'm unlucky enough to have met them all.

These people are not just having too much free time on their hands, they have got nothing better to do with their own lives as well. Poking their nose in others' affairs for 'entertainment' and amusement have become their favourite pastimes.

"How come I don't see you with your bf anymore?" Auntie 8 asked.

"We are no longer together (since Jurassic age laa puhleeesee)." I replied her question like a good Primary school girl.

"When did you guys separate? Why separate? Why didn't you tell us one?" Auntie 8 continued to snoop.

"Oiii Auntie 8, let me ask you a question, who the FUCK do you think you are?! Why do I have to report every single detail of my life to you? Don't you understand that this is my personal matter? If I think you should know about it, I would have told you long long time ago. SEI 8 POR!!!"

I SOoooo wanted to tell her off but I held my tongue between my gritted teeth. Instead, I replied her, "Sorry, I got to run. I'm late. Bye."

I rushed off and left Auntie 8 standing there with a stunned look on her face (PRICELESSsss).

Her mouth was opening and closing like a fish gaping for air (SUPER VALUE-ADDED PRICEeeLESSSsss).

Her royal highness cannot believe that I dare to dismiss her just like that. Hehehe.

Am I an anti-social? Maybe.

Am I protecting myself? Maybe.

Am I rude? Definitely YES. LOL.

My good friend Tiuniasing once said this to me, "There are two kinds of people in this world. The first kind of people is willingly and readily opens up their mouth to share and talk. The other kind, I mean your kind, have sea-hum (cockles) mouth. Not matter how much strength is used to force it to open up, it will always remain sealed like a tight cheebye!!!" ;รพ
