Last last weekend, the whole Titoki clan went to attend a Japanese Festival called Bon Odori at the Panasonic Stadium in Shah Alam. The event was an annual affair held in conjunction with the Tourism of Malaysia.
The celebration started at 7PM. By the time we arrived, the venue was already people mountain people sea.
Some sat on the floor to makan.
Some went to cari makan. Like your beloved Ms Titoki.
Sushi King is a very smart marketer to make their presence felt in the event. But not many people wanna pong chan them.
Why?
Well, who would still want to eat something that is readily available in every nook and corner in Malaysia? Most who came here to experience the foreign culture and to hunt for exotic and authentic Japanese foods which they can't find outside. Jadi, siapa mau makan Sushi King lagi?
Lucky we had our dinner first before we come. It was waaaay too crowded to find any decent Japanese food/meal in any of the stalls. Most were either finished or too sexpensive. My 6 units of Green Tea Chocolate ice-cream (marshmallow size) cost me RM5 per package. And I bought all 6 boxes of them because of kiasu-ness. Can really cut out my liver already aitelyu.
We were surrounded by lotsa yapunis mui mui jais, dee dees, aunties, uncles, ah pohs, and ah gongs in every corner we turn.
It is really nice to meet people who are proud of their heritage and know how to appreciate their own culture.
At first, it was only the performers dancing on the stage.
And then the people in the front suddenly became butt itchy and started to dance and sway their bodies left and right.
Any right-thinking person would then reversed a few steps backwards to let the people in the front to have more space to dance. Abuthen, the people at the back too had also started to dance to the tune.
Like a n00b, we suddenly found ourselves sandwiched between these two groups of people, standing in the middle, dumb-founded. Don't know what to do. Imagine yourself in our shoes, what will you do?
Dance with them? They go forward, you also go forward; they move backward, you also move backward? Or walk away? Hmmmm...
Most people will choose to stay and dance with them because they have the following mentality: "Since I'm already 'trapped', might as well just stay and move my body to be in sync with their rhythm." ;)
And because of everyone around you is also dancing and swaying, it gives you no choice but to follow and go with the flow.
This is a very cunning tactic to rope in the crowd to dance with you. If you do not believe me, feel free to check out the massive crowd in the video and you will know that my theory is a proven one. *winks*
My sis and mom were victims in the scam. Look how brainwashed they became.
