364 days but not Valentine's Day
La La La La Doom.
It's Valentine's Day today.
A day which makes the Singles feel more 'single' and the couples feel more pressure (to celebrate & to spend).
Thanks to commercialization. It has now become a day that encourages consumers to pay double/triple/quadruple on a few stalk of dying flowers, coagulated mud-color milk + sugar, and a dinner where the main course is 'candles'. *winks*
The thing is, if you are really in love with someone, everyday can be a Valentine's Day. Why do you need to wait/waste 364 days later then only you remember/bother to express your undying love to your other half?
Some more THAT reminder was channeled to you via multi-direction's V-day ads bombardments from the TV, billboards & radio. Or else, the "Oh yeah, Valentine's Day is coming" realization would not have sunken in into your flesh, bloodstream and cells.
We human are actually very stupid and kiasu. Coupled with an in-built auto-response of monkeys see and monkeys do. Thus we all fall for the V-day gimmicks BIG-BIG time.
Don't you know that:
1) The soft toys you buy are going to become a breeding ground for the dust mites.
2) The chocolates you give are going to fatten up the arse left and right.
3) The flowers you purchase are going to be buried six feet under two days later.
4) And the candlelit dinners you invite, boys, aren't they for the dead?!
(Because according to the Chinese's beliefs, only the dead people eat the 'candles'. Bad pun intended. *double winks*)
So you see if you are a smart person, you will not do all the stupid things mentioned above TODAY. Instead, you will avoid the crowd and use the rest of the 364 days to tell/express/show your love to your loved ones.
Ed note:
Geez, an idiot just sms-ed me asking me out for a V-Day dinner tonight. Yes, he is an idiot indeed. But the gesture has warmed my heart. Well, I guess it's the thought that REALLY counts. Heh.
