Yesterday Once More
I was watching this movie called Yesterday Once More starring Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng with sis just now. The ending is so sad. It makes me all teary eyed like the heavy rain outside. (Yeah, yeah, I am so mushy like that. Cannot meh?)
The couple, Andy and Sammi, love each other very much but due to the circumstances that they are in, they can’t be with each other like normal couples do.
Both of them come from a filthy rich background with various businesses and properties (local and overseas) under their belts, but they are thieves and are addicted to stealing. They will just steal from anyone and anything, i.e., from small items like a ring (from a souvenir shop) to expensive and valuable commodities like wine, cigars and jewelleries.
One day, they're fighting over the distribution of their stolen goods (diamonds). Sammi asked Andy if he loves her or not, if yes, then he should give her a big portion instead of half portion (like they normally do). Andy got angry, stormed out of the room and asked her to wait for the divorce papers.
Their divorce came through.
Two years later, Sammi met a handsome business tycoon and he proposed to her. She told him that she will marry him only if he gives her his family heirloom, the tiger-eyes diamond necklace, which was passed down from one generation to another.
The poor guy agreed. And a robbery is staged to steal the diamond necklace. Sammi and Andy crossed path again.
Mrs Thief is certain that her ex-husband stole the treasure to sabotage her marriage to get her attention. She is determined to use all her means to get him to confess his crime.
Mr Thief, who insisted that he is innocent, used the opportunity to rekindle her feelings for him. What follows is a game of cat-and-mouse, seduction and jealousy...
Guys and girls, let me fast-forward the movie to the end. It’s too time-consuming for me to type the whole storyline for you here. (Stop whining already you bitches and pricks. Go get the DVD laa!)
And dudes, you have been forewarned of the spoiler ahead. Close this window now if you don’t want to know how the story ends.
Andy divorced his wife Sammi because he is terminally ill. He can give everything to her, (all his stolen goods, cars, cash, properties, businesses and etc), but not himself nor his love (he's dying). So he set her free.
Well, I think this is also the reason why it makes me cry like no yesterday and no tomorrow. Because it kinds of reflects on me & him, our circumstances, lives and destiny, which is as helpless and sad like Andy’s and Sammi’s.
*TITOKI stares into the blankness of the sky. Big fat tears roll down on her rosy cheeks.*
Even now, as I am typing this, my tears are still 'free-flowing' like the Niagara Falls. I am such a crybaby. Sniff. And there is no one here to hug me. Double sniff.
Ed note: I think I have said too much already in this post. Please don’t judge, ask or speculate. Cheers.
