猪你新年快乐!
Ever since I was a kid, I love Chinese New Year (CNY). It's an occasion where you get paid to eat, sleep, play, and watch TV. Just like heaven.
Now that I've grown up, CNY has become an occasion for family members to gather together for some closed-door intimate 'Internet' (Inter-networking).
Where info like how much my daughter/son is earning, who is the blindtard currently dating my daughter/son, how much the blindtard is earning, how did they meet, when are they getting married & etc will be exchanged, compared and documented.
And some very helpful relatives will not hesitate to put up/spread/broadcast the news on the family's forum and on the WikiTitokiFamilypedia site too, so that everyone in the clan will not miss the gossip. Who say Kampung's uncles aunties are not tech savvy? The ones I know are damn powderfool can die.
Nonetheless, despite being enlarged and examined under the microscope, I am still very much in love with CNY. I suppose it's the good and the bad that makes it sooo much more special to me and my family.
Do you know that it's a custom for the young ones to stay up late on the eve of CNY?
I still remember how my late grandpa will give us Ang Pow in the wee hours in the morning. So that us kids will not go to bed early. Because the folklore has it that, staying up on the eve signifies longevity and prosperity for the parents. So if there is any good Samaritan out there who wants to keep your beloved Ms Titoki awake on Sat night via Skype + MSN, you are most welcome.
Those of you who will be traveling back to your hometown, please drive safely. And if you are heading North, you are welcome to stop by at my grandma's house in Kampar, Perak. It opens 24/7 during the festive season. *winks*
